Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Zinda collects
Zinda is a Windows program that plays animated wallpapers behind your desktop icons. It has no account and no sign-in, and it goes online for one thing only: keeping itself up to date.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
- The mouse, only over the desktop. So the scenes can react, Zinda reads where the pointer is and whether the left button was pressed, only while the desktop itself is under the pointer. This is passed to the scene on your PC and forgotten. Zinda does not read the keyboard and never captures what is on your screen.
- Which window is in front. To pause when an app fills the screen, Zinda checks the size and position of the window in front, about once a second. It does not look at what that window contains.
- Your settings stay on your PC. The scene, the clock options and the pause options are saved in your Windows registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zinda; the working files of Microsoft Edge WebView2, which draws the scenes, are kept inAppData\Local\Zinda.
What it changes on your PC
- Installation — the program is copied into your own user folder (
AppData\Local\Programs\Zinda), with a Start menu shortcut and, if you choose, a desktop shortcut. No admin rights are requested. - Your wallpaper is not changed. Zinda shows its scene in the wallpaper layer behind the icons; your own wallpaper setting stays as it is and is shown again when Zinda closes.
- Start with Windows — if you leave this ticked, Zinda adds itself to your account’s start-up programs and a Task Scheduler task that starts it when you sign in. Switch it off in the Zinda window to remove both.
- Installed apps entry — so that Zinda can be removed from Windows Settings like any other program.
Updates
When it starts, Zinda downloads a small file from www.aantstudio.com/updates.json that lists the newest version. If a newer one exists it downloads the installer from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted, and runs it. Those two requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and a line saying the program and its version — and nothing else. Our hosting providers may keep ordinary server logs of the requests.
Links
The Zinda window has links to this website, this policy, the terms and our email address. They open in your own browser or mail program only when you click them.
Children
Zinda is suitable for everyone. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Uninstalling Zinda from Settings → Apps → Installed apps removes the program, its shortcuts, its start-up entries and its saved settings.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
