Today's colour is Tomato. Go find it.

Every day Hue Hunt names one colour — Tomato, Denim, Mint, Mustard — and everyone gets the same one. Point your camera at things around you; the ring in the middle tells you, live, how close you are. You get three snaps. The best one is your score, and the result is a little card you can post next to your friends'.

Daily ColourLive Match Meter3 Tries
Today's colour, Tomato, waiting to be hunted

The hunt

Fill the ring, watch the number climb.

The camera stays live. Whatever sits inside the ring in the middle is averaged and compared with the day's colour five times a second, so you can walk round the kitchen and watch the match go up as you get warmer. When you've found the one, snap it.

  • Live match percentage while you aim
  • Three snaps a day — the best one counts
  • A hint for every colour ("ketchup, a fire extinguisher, a stop sign")
  • Nothing is recorded: the picture is looked at, live, and that's all
Aiming the ring at a red mug: 99% match for today's colour, Tomato

The score

Real colour science, not a guess.

Two colours that look the same to the eye can be far apart as numbers, and the other way round. Hue Hunt compares them the way paint and print matching does — in CIE Lab, with the CIEDE2000 formula — so its score follows what you see. A difference too small to notice is a perfect 100.

  • CIEDE2000, checked against the published reference data
  • Colours averaged in linear light, as a camera sensor sees them
  • "So close", "right family" or "not even close" — in plain words
Result card: the target Tomato beside the colour found, 93%, a ten-day streak

Every day

Same colour for everyone. Compare.

Like a daily word puzzle, there's one colour per day for the whole world, so "I got 94% on Denim" means something to whoever you send it to. Share the card or the emoji line, keep your streak going, and see every hunt you've played as a wall of colours.

  • 60 colours you can actually find, never the same two days running
  • Streaks, played count and average score
  • A gentle 10 am reminder with the day's colour (switch it off any time)
  • Practice mode: random colours, unlimited tries
The home screen: today's colour, two tries used, best 93%, a streak of 10

Common questions.

Everything you need to know about Hue Hunt.

Does it save or upload my photos?

No. Hue Hunt looks at the camera preview live, works out the average colour inside the ring, and keeps only that colour code and your score. No picture is saved, and nothing is sent anywhere. The only thing it fetches from the internet is news of its own updates.

Why did my perfect-looking match only score 80-something?

Cameras adjust their white balance and exposure as you move, and lighting changes colours more than eyes notice. Daylight from a window gives the truest colours; a warm lamp turns everything orange. Fill the ring with one flat colour, without shadows or shine.

Is the colour really the same for everyone?

Yes. It's picked from the date, the same way on every phone, so on any given day every player is hunting the same colour. Hunt #1 was 3 October 2026.

What permissions does it need?

The camera, to look at the colour; notifications, only for the optional daily reminder; and start at boot, so that reminder survives a restart. The download from this site can also install its own updates, which Android asks you to confirm.

Where do I get it?

Free, as a direct download on this page. Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser the first time. It is not on Google Play yet.
