Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Tarjuman collects
Tarjuman is a Windows program that interprets your calls live. It has no account, no analytics and no servers of ours, and we receive nothing from it. Translation is done by Google, using an API key that you create and paste in yourself. That makes Google the one place your meeting audio goes, so most of this section is about what goes to Google and when.
What is sent to Google, and when
- Only while the interpreter is running. Nothing is listened to or sent before you press Start or after you press Stop.
- What your PC plays, for the “client to you” direction. Tarjuman captures the sound Windows sends to your speakers or headphones, leaving out its own voice, and streams it to Google to be translated. This is how it hears the other people in your call. It is everything your PC plays while it runs, not only the meeting, so a video or music playing at the same time is sent too.
- Your microphone, for the “you to client” direction, while that direction is on and “Translate my voice” is selected. When you switch to your real voice (F8), your microphone goes into the call directly and is not sent to Google.
- Where it goes. The audio goes straight from your PC to Google’s Gemini API (
generativelanguage.googleapis.com) over an encrypted connection, under your API key. Google sends back the translated speech and the text of what was said and translated. None of it passes through us. - How Google treats it. Your use of the Gemini API is between you and Google, under the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service. Under those terms, on Google’s free tier Google uses what you send and what it returns to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it. On a paid key it does not. For confidential meetings, turn on billing for your key in Google AI Studio.
- The other people in your call. Their voices are sent to Google for translation. Let them know you are using an interpreter. In some places the law requires their consent.
What stays on your PC
- Your settings (languages, devices, volumes) in
%APPDATA%\Tarjuman. Your API key is kept there encrypted with Windows’ own data protection, so it is readable only by your Windows account on this PC. - No recordings and no transcripts. The captions exist only in the open window and are gone when you close it. Tarjuman does not save audio or text anywhere.
- Other programs’ volume. To turn the client’s original voice down under the translation, Tarjuman lowers the volume of the other programs playing sound while it runs, and puts each one back when you stop. It notes the original levels in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tarjuman, so they can be restored even if the program is closed unexpectedly. It also reads, but never changes, Windows’ setting for lowering other sounds during calls, so it can tell you if that setting would make the translation quiet.
Other connections it makes
- This website and GitHub, for updates. Tarjuman reads
aantstudio.com/updates.jsonwhen it starts and every few hours. When a new version is out, it asks GitHub for the installer’s published SHA-256 checksum, downloads the installer from our GitHub releases page, and installs it only if the checksum matches. Never during a meeting. - Links you click in Settings open in your browser.
Each of these sees your IP address, in the ordinary way any website you visit does. Tarjuman contacts nothing else.
Children
Tarjuman is a tool for work calls. It is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information for us from anyone.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Uninstalling Tarjuman from Windows Settings → Apps removes the program, your settings and the stored API key, and restores any volume it had lowered. What you sent to Google is held by Google under its own terms; you can delete or restrict your API key at any time in Google AI Studio.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
