Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Netwarden collects
Netwarden is a Windows program that shows the devices on your own local network and tells you when a new one joins. It has no account and no servers of ours, and it goes online for one thing only: keeping itself up to date.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
- What it learns about your network stays on your PC. To find devices, Netwarden sends ordinary network messages to addresses on your own local network: a ping, the questions Windows and other devices use to ask for a name, a search for devices that describe themselves (UPnP), and a check of which common services answer. It never tries to log in to any device and never reads anything sent between your devices.
- What it keeps, in
AppData\Roaming\Netwardenon your PC: for each network, the devices it has seen (their addresses, hardware addresses, makers, names and when they were seen), the names, notes and “mine” marks you add, the recent activity list, your settings and a short event log.
What it changes on your PC
- Installation — the program is copied into your own user folder (
AppData\Local\Programs\Netwarden) with a Start menu shortcut. No admin rights are requested. - Background watch — while it is running, Netwarden repeats its check every few minutes (you choose how often, or turn it off). Start with Windows only if you turn it on.
Updates
When it starts, and every few hours while it runs, Netwarden downloads a small file from www.aantstudio.com/updates.json that lists the newest version. If a newer one exists it downloads the installer from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted, and runs it. Those requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and a line naming the program — and nothing else.
Children
Netwarden collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. “Forget this device” removes one device from its memory; uninstalling Netwarden removes the program and everything it remembered.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
