Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What KeyPop collects
KeyPop is a Windows program that turns the keyboard into a full-screen toy for babies and toddlers. It has no account and no sign-in, and it goes online for one thing only: keeping itself up to date.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
- Key presses are never recorded. While a child is playing, KeyPop catches every key before Windows does, so that shortcuts like the Windows key and Alt + Tab cannot open anything. Each press is turned into a picture and a sound on the screen and then forgotten. Nothing that is typed is saved, and nothing is sent anywhere. When the parent leaves play mode, KeyPop stops catching keys.
- The voice runs on your PC. The letters and animal noises are spoken by the English voice built into Windows, offline.
- Your settings stay on your PC. Whether sound, the voice, letters, animals and mouse effects are on, and the volume, are saved in your own user folder (
AppData\Local\KeyPop), together with the working files of Microsoft Edge WebView2, the part of Windows that draws KeyPop’s screen.
What it changes on your PC
- Installation — the program is copied into your own user folder (
AppData\Local\Programs\KeyPop), with a Start menu shortcut and, if you choose, a desktop shortcut. No admin rights are requested. KeyPop does not start with Windows. - Only while a child is playing — KeyPop fills the screen, keeps the mouse on it, keeps the screen from going to sleep, and turns off the keyboard shortcuts that open the Sticky Keys, Filter Keys and Toggle Keys pop-ups. Those shortcuts are switched off for the current session only and are put back the moment play ends; if you have one of those features switched on, KeyPop leaves it alone.
- Installed apps entry — so that KeyPop can be removed from Windows Settings like any other program.
Updates
When it starts, and when play ends if a few hours have passed, KeyPop downloads a small file from www.aantstudio.com/updates.json that lists the newest version. If a newer one exists it downloads the installer from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted, and runs it. Those two requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and a line saying the program and its version — and nothing else: no identifier, no settings, nothing about how it is used. Our hosting providers may keep ordinary server logs of the requests.
Links
The home screen has links to this website, this policy, the terms and our email address. They open in your own browser or mail program only when you click them, and never while a child is playing.
Children
KeyPop is made to be played with by young children, under a parent’s supervision. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children: it has no account, no camera or microphone access, no chat, no advertising and no way for a child to send anything out of the program.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Uninstalling KeyPop from Settings → Apps → Installed apps removes the program, its shortcuts and its saved settings.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
