Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Dynoti collects
Dynoti draws a small island around the camera cutout on your phone and shows what the device is doing there. It has no account and no sign-in, and nothing it reads ever leaves your phone. The one thing it goes online for is its own updates: the version downloaded from this site checks www.aantstudio.com/updates.json for a newer version and, when there is one, downloads the new APK from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted. Those requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and the app’s name and version — and never a notification, a contact, a track or anything else Dynoti has seen. A copy installed from Google Play has no internet permission at all, because Play delivers its updates.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no servers, no analytics and no crash reporting.
- Your notifications are read and immediately discarded. Dynoti reads the title, text, icon, colour and action buttons of a notification in order to draw it on the island. That content lives in memory only, is replaced by the next notification, and is gone when the app stops.
- The unread list is held in memory, not on disk. The few notifications the island is currently holding are never written to storage, and restarting your phone clears them.
- Media details are read from the system, not from the app. Track title, artist and album art come from Android’s media session, the same information shown on your lock screen.
- Your settings stay on the phone. Style, calibration, per-app rules and timings are saved in the app’s own private storage and included in your normal Android backup if you use one.
Device permissions
- Notification access — the core permission. It is how Dynoti learns that something arrived and what it says, and it is also how Android grants access to the media session for the now-playing island. Nothing read through it leaves the device.
- Display over other apps — to draw the island on top of whatever you are using. It is the only way to show anything outside the app itself.
- Vibrate — a short tick when the island reacts to a gesture. Can be turned off in Behaviour.
- Run at startup — so the island is there after a reboot instead of waiting for you to open the app.
- Accessibility — optional, and off unless you turn it on — Android reserves the layer above the status bar for accessibility overlays, and enabling this service is the only way an app can draw there. Dynoti’s service does nothing else: it requests no window content, receives no screen text, performs no actions on your behalf and collects nothing. Dynoti is fully functional with it switched off, with the island sitting just below the status bar instead.
Dynoti also has a Reliability screen that opens your phone’s own battery, auto-start and background settings for you. Those are system settings rather than app permissions — Dynoti does not hold them and cannot change them, it only takes you to the right page. Leaving them alone keeps everything working; the island may just be late or absent after the screen has been off for a while.
Dynoti reads the list of apps that can be launched, so the per-app rules screen can show you their names and icons. It uses Android’s limited package-visibility mechanism for this rather than the broad “query all packages” permission, and the list never leaves the phone.
We want to be exact about the accessibility service, because it is a permission that deserves suspicion. It is declared with canRetrieveWindowContent set to false, which means the operating system will not hand it the contents of any screen even if it asked. It exists for one reason — window layering — and it is not used to read, monitor or automate anything. You can revoke it in Android Settings at any time and carry on using the app.
Children
Dynoti is a utility with no social features, no content feed and no data collection, and is not directed at children.
Third-party services
None. Dynoti contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no billing SDK. Apart from the update check described above, it makes no network requests of any kind.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Everything Dynoti has stored is your settings, and uninstalling the app removes them. Revoking notification access at any time stops it reading anything immediately.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
