Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Deskpad collects
Deskpad is a Windows program that lets a phone on your own network control your PC: move the pointer, type, press media keys and, if you allow it, see the PC’s screen. It has no account, no cloud and no servers of ours in the middle.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
- What you type and do is not recorded. Touches, key presses and text travel from the phone straight to Deskpad on your PC, are performed there, and are not saved or logged.
- The screen view is a live video sent directly from your PC to your phone over your network. It is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere else, and it only runs while a phone you allowed has the Screen tab open. You can switch screen view off entirely in Deskpad’s settings.
- Devices you allow are remembered on your PC by a name taken from the phone’s browser (for example “iPhone · Safari”), its address on your network and when it was last seen. You can remove any of them at any time.
- On the phone, Deskpad keeps a small cookie so the phone is recognised next time (it holds a random identifier and nothing else) and your touchpad speed in the browser’s own storage.
- Your settings and a short event log (which phone connected and when, never what was typed) stay on your PC, in
AppData\Roaming\Deskpad.
Who can connect
Deskpad only answers devices on your own local network. A phone needs the code from the QR code on your screen, and unless you turn it off, you approve each new device on the PC before it can do anything.
What it changes on your PC
- Installation — the program is copied into your own user folder (
AppData\Local\Programs\Deskpad) with a Start menu shortcut. No admin rights are requested. - Windows Firewall — Windows asks the first time whether Deskpad may be reached on your network. “Fix Windows Firewall” in the app adds one rule allowing Deskpad, after Windows asks for your permission.
- Start with Windows — only if you turn it on.
Updates
When it starts, and every few hours while it runs, Deskpad downloads a small file from www.aantstudio.com/updates.json that lists the newest version. If a newer one exists it downloads the installer from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted, and runs it. Those requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and a line naming the program — and nothing else.
Children
Deskpad collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Uninstalling Deskpad removes the program, its settings and the list of allowed devices.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
