Who we are
aantstudio builds and publishes the apps listed on this site. Contact us at contact@aantstudio.com.
General principles
These hold across every app we publish:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your data for advertising. Where an app shows ads, this is stated plainly in that app's section.
- We collect the minimum an app needs to work, and each app's section says exactly what that is.
- You can refuse a permission and keep using whatever does not depend on it.
What Beamdrop collects
Beamdrop is a Windows program that moves files and text between your phone and your PC over your own network. It has no account, no cloud and no servers of ours in the middle: files go straight from one device to the other.
What we collect
- Nothing is collected, transmitted or stored by us. There are no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising.
- Your files never leave your network. When your phone sends a file, it travels over your Wi-Fi directly to Beamdrop on your PC and is saved in the folder you chose (by default
Downloads\Beamdrop). Files you share from the PC are read from where they already are, only when a phone you allowed asks for them. - Texts and links you send between the devices are kept in Beamdrop’s memory while it runs, and are gone when you quit it.
- Devices you allow are remembered on your PC by a name taken from the phone’s browser (for example “iPhone · Safari”), its address on your network and when it was last seen, so they do not have to be allowed again. You can remove any of them at any time.
- Your settings and a short event log (when transfers started and finished, never their contents) stay on your PC, in
AppData\Roaming\Beamdrop.
Who can connect
Beamdrop only answers devices on your own local network. A phone needs the code from the QR code on your screen to connect, and unless you turn it off, you approve each new device on the PC once before it can send or receive anything. The phone keeps a small cookie so it is recognised next time; it holds nothing but a random identifier.
What it changes on your PC
- Installation — the program is copied into your own user folder (
AppData\Local\Programs\Beamdrop) with a Start menu shortcut. No admin rights are requested. - Windows Firewall — Windows asks the first time whether Beamdrop may be reached on your network. If you use “Fix Windows Firewall” in the app, it adds one rule allowing Beamdrop, after Windows asks for your permission.
- Start with Windows — only if you turn it on.
Updates
When it starts, and every few hours while it runs, Beamdrop downloads a small file from www.aantstudio.com/updates.json that lists the newest version. If a newer one exists it downloads the installer from GitHub, where our downloads are hosted, and runs it. Those requests carry what any web request does — your IP address and a line naming the program — and nothing else.
Children
Beamdrop collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing reaches us. Uninstalling Beamdrop removes the program, its settings and the list of allowed devices. Files you received stay in your folder until you delete them.
Data security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it, and authentication and payment details are handled by the specialist providers named above rather than stored by us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email contact@aantstudio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising either.
European Economic Area and UK (GDPR)
We process your data to perform the service you asked for, and on the basis of consent where a permission is involved. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required where you live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app they affect.
